Dillon Brown (center) celebrates his second Sumter victory this season.
What won the race: Dillon Brown of Gaffney, S.C., led all 40 laps from the pole en route to winning Saturday night's $5,507 fifth annual Billy Cagle Memorial at Sumter Speedway. Brown beat Dale Timms to the checkers by 0.710 of a second for his second Cagle Automotive Blue Ridge Outlaw Late Model Series victory of the season.
Quotable: “This old car here is a (2021 Longhorn) and this car’s hung a lot of (victory) checks,” Brown said. “We won a lot of big Crate races in this car and we decided to make it our 525 (engine) car this winter. She’s been sitting in our shop for a couple years, ain’t been racing and she picked right back up where it left off.”
Key notes: Brown's other series victory came March 22 at Lake View Motor Speedway in Nichols, S.C., netting $3,500. ... It's Brown's third overall victory of the season after his first career Steel Block Bandits win on April 5, worth $5,000 came earlier in the season at Sumter. ...
