Dalton Cook captured his second straight feature victory at EAMS.
What won the race: Overtaking Montana Dudley as they raced toward the white flag, third-starting Dalton Cook of Smiths Station, Ala., led the final two circuits in winning Saturday's 50-lap Super Late Model feature at East Alabama Motor Speedway. Cook beat Ethan Dotson to the checkers by 0.621 of a second for the $10,000 unsanctioned victory, his third overall triumph of the season and second straight at EAMS.
Key notes: Dalton Cook also won April 12 at East Alabama. ... Ethan Dotson led the opening 26 laps from the pole before appearing to slow with a flat tire, pitting and dropping as low as sixth, handing the lead to Montana Dudley. Dotson rebounded to take second place back from Dudley on the final lap. ... Dudley, of Phenix City, Ala., led laps 27-48 before giving way to Cook and Dotson in the final stages. ... Jimmy Owens pitted from second on lap 23 after slowing to draw the race's second caution. Owens marched from seventh to fourth over the final 17 laps aboard a Larry Harrod-owned No. 27 entry. ... Chris Ferguson, apparent winner of the night's second heat race, was disqualified and started 14th in the 50-lap feature. Fergy worked his way as high as fourth on the 28th lap before retiring 10 laps later. ... Sixth-running Jordy Nipper was involved in the first stoppage on lap three, ending his night. ... The main event was slowed by three incidents, including Dotson's lap-28 flat, and lasted 26 minutes, with five starters running at the finish. ... Chris McKeehan, Randall Powell and Mark Dodson scratched.
