Sam Seawright (16) topped Luke Morey (49) and Josh Putnam (212).
What won the race: Sixth-starting Sam Seawright of Rainsville, Ala., muscled his way by race-long leader Josh Putnam as they were mired in lapped traffic with three laps remaining to win Friday's $4,000 Bama 100 prelim. Seawright crossed the finish line 0.939 seconds ahead of runner up Luke Morey who also slipped by Putnam in the closing laps.
Quotable: “I just got lucky with lapped traffic there, to be honest. I felt like Josh (Putnam) was a little better than me when he stayed down lower,” Seawright said. “The lapped traffic saved me, really. That kinda gave me a shot to get up there with him and try something on the outside. I didn’t mean to get into him there, I don’t know if he’s mad, but it wasn’t intentional. You just gotta do what you gotta do in that situation.”
Key notes: Seawright secured his fourth overall victory of the season and his second special event triumph at Moulton after grabbing a $4,000 unsanctioned win there in Nov. of 2021. ... Josh Putnam led the opening 36 laps from the pole before Seawright's late-race contact caused him to slip to third. ... Rick Rickman improved four positions and finished fourth. ... Eighth-finishing Matthew Brocato gained nine spots. ... Friday's 40-lap opener lasted 22 minutes, with nine starters running at the finish. ... The two-day Bama 100 concludes with Saturday's 60-lap, $6,000-to-win finale. ... Bryson Mitchell and Cam Harris scratched from the main event lineup.
On the move: Jordon Horton of Sheedville, Tenn., started 16th and finished sixth.
