What won the race: Taking control for good on lap 13 after a back-and-forth battle with Jeremy Steele, second-starting Cory Hedgecock of Loudon, Tenn., led the rest of Saturday's 60-lap 14th annual J.T. Kerr Memorial at I-75 Raceway. Hedgecock held off a late charge from Austin Yarbrough and beat him to the line by 0.329 of a second for the $10,000 payday and his 24th career Rogers-Dabbs Crate Racin' USA 604 Series victory.
Quotable: “Honestly, I never thought this place would (take) rubber and I’ll probably take full responsibility for that since we’re putting on the event. I told everybody to get off the damn water truck,” Hedgecock said. “It was a good race up until the end, hats off to the (track crew) and everything, working on the racetrack. We had a good piece and everything, wish (the track) would’ve raced a little bit better.”
