Garrett Alberson celebrates in victory lane at 34 Raceway.
What won the race: Regaining the lead from Brandon Overton with four laps remaining, Garrett Alberson of Las Cruces, N.M., captured Thursday's Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series feature at 34 Raceway for a $15,000 payday. Alberson started on the pole, led 35 laps and fell behind Overton and then Hudson O'Neal. But with four laps remaining, Overton got too high exiting turn two and O'Neal edged ahead on the backstretch. Overton slipped back ahead of O'Neal heading down the frontstretch, but a high-flying Alberson roared past on the outside for a 50-lap triumph, the second of his Lucas Oil Series career.
Quotable: "These things are really hard (to win). We've been up front a lot and haven't been able to finish it out," Alberson said. "It's tough at times, but, these guys are all so good and this competition is amazing so just big thanks to Ken and Beth Roberts. We've got such a cool team. We're gelling good and having fun and the car feels fast."

A lap-five yellow dropped for turn-two scramble among top-10 runners Brandon Sheppard, Chris Simpson and Clay Stuckey. ... On the seventh lap, the smoking car of Clay Harris slid into the infield. ... The ninth lap drew a caution for Matt Furman's spin into the infield after contact with Dan Ebert. ... Ninth-running Gordy Gundaker spun in turn two on the 11th lap. ... On the 16th lap, third-running Ricky Thornton Jr. pulled up lame in turn four after clipping the backstretch wall; he pitted for repairs and a new right-rear tire and returned (he spun for another caution on lap 19 and hit the wall on the 40th lap, collecting Daulton Wilson; his departure handed the points lead to Jonathan Davenport). ... Second-running Devin Moran's right-rear flat halted the action on lap 31. ... Ebert started on the tail because he went to a backup car. ... A rain shower just as time trials started caused a brief delay, but action resumed quickly. ... FS Inc. and Woodworth Attorney at Law were prime sponsors of the 34 event. ...
