What won the race: Scoring his seventh consecutive victory to open the 2015 season, fourth-starting Randy Weaver of Crossville, Tenn., took the lead from polesitter Derek Ellis of Chatsworth, Ga., on the 12th lap and never looked back en route to $4,000 victory in a caution-free 40-lap feature event.
Quotable: "It’s already a big one to remember," Weaver said of his remarkable 2015 season. "This year is in the memory of my dad ... man, I wish he could be here to see this."
Key notes: Weaver scored his second Spring Nationals triumph of the season. ... Ellis turned back late-race challenges from Dale McDowell to finish in the runner-up spot. McDowell settled for third place. ... The top two qualifiers in each group ran a dash to determine the first four starting positions; remaining drivers used qualifying races to set their feature starting spots. ... Cleveland hosted the first of two weekend events in Tennessee on the Ray Cook-promoted tour; Tazewell Speedway is scheduled to host Saturday's event. ... The series offered a $200 bonus to the highest finishing car utilizing a CT 525 engine as well as a steel-head powerplant. ... Booger Brooks won the Crate Late Model feature.
On the move: Donald McIntosh of Dawsonville, Ga., advanced eight positions to finish seventh.
Winner's sponsors: Weaver's Outlaw Racing Southeast Longhorn Chassis is powered by a Cornett Ford engine and sponsored by Stone Land Cleaning and Excavating, Mission Transport, A.F. Stone Professional Medical Services and The Bailey Company.
