Trever Feathers picked up a career-high $20,000 at Bedford.
What won the race: Taking command with a third-to-first move on the 40th lap when race-long leader Matt Sponaugle got out of shape exiting turn four, Trever Feathers of Winchester, Va., won his fourth Fall Clash victory of the season in capturing the eighth annual Keystone Cup and a career-high $20,000 at Bedford Speedway. The 10th-starting Feathers took the checkers 1.615 seconds ahead of 21st-starting Gregg Satterlee while Sponaugle settled for fifth after leading 39 laps
Quotable: "I'm kind of speechless. I can't believe it. This place is not good to me ever," Feathers said. "I time-trialed like crap, made up for it in the heat race and in the feature, I just made a lot of decent moves and was in the right place at the right time when the top two got together off (turn) four.”
Key notes: Trever Feathers notched his third straight victory on the first-year Fall Clash circuit and fourth in the last five series starts. ... His winning pass came when Sponaugle got too high in turn four. Sponaugle cut low entering the frontstretch and Feathers blew past on the outside with second-running Bryan Bernheisel getting hung up and ultimately settling for third. ... Five cautions slowed the 50-lapper, the first on the third lap when eighth-running Rick Eckert got into the turn-three fence after contact with Feathers (several minutes of cleanup were required to remove Eckert's machine). ... On the eighth lap, Matt Martin spun on the frontstretch. ... Third-running Spike Moore slowed on the 27th lap. ... On the 31st lap, Kyle Hardy ended up askew in turn four after a battle with Jeff Rine. ... John Wayne Weaver drew a lap-35 caution. ... Tyler Emory, making his first start of the season after recovering from lower-back stem cell surgery, drove Del Rougeux's No. 28D. ... Justin Weaver drove the Shaun Jones-owned No. 32J. ... Kyle Lee entered in Bruce Kane's No. 15k. ... Thirteen drivers completed 50 laps. ... Treyton Lee scratched from the feature. ... The event was condensed to a one-day show by wet weather, but Bedford plans a non-Super Late Model show Sunday. … Former driver and track manager Jake Hoover was inducted into the track's Hall of Fame and served as grand marshal for the event presented by Bolger Brothers.
On the move: Runner up Gregg Satterlee of Indiana, Pa., finished second; his started the night getting into the fence in time trials after blowing a right-front tire.
Winner's sponsors: Feathers drives a Cameron, Mann, Emory family-owned Rocket Chassis with a Pro Power Racing Engine and sponsorship from Coombs Bus & Truck Service, Genevie Plumbling, Total Machine, Cameron Construction, PSI Pax, Inc., E-Labs, Carruth & Son Concrete, Garner Mid-Atlantic Construction, B&L Hauling, C.A.B Electric, K&L Pumping & Septic, Keyser Manufacturing, Penske Shocks and Hoosier Tire.
