Ashton Winger celebrates in victory lane at Whynot.
What won the race: Overtaking race-long leader Tyler Erb on a lap-36 restart, sixth-starting Ashton Winger led the rest of Saturday's 31st annual Coors Light Fall Classic at Whynot Motorsports Park for a $20,000 payday in becoming the event's first three-time winner. Winger, who won the race in 2019 and '23, took the checkers 1.357 seconds ahead of 13th-starting Ethan Dotson in the 60-lapper despite losing his power steering in the final laps.
Quotable: "I about gave it away," Winger said. "I come off (turn) four over here with about five (laps) to go and lost power steering. And when I lifted, I took a hard left into a uke tire, got my thumb caught up in the wheel. I don't know what the hell I was doing."
Key notes: After losing his car's power steering late, winner Ashton Winger clipped an infield tire barrier but kept runner-up Ethan Dotson at bay. ... Winger's victory came after Friday's news that he was stripped of Oct. 4's MARS Championship Series finale at Fairbury (Ill.) Speedway because his tire samples failed to meet manufacturer benchmarks in lab tests; it was his second tire disqualification of the season. He denied wrongdoing. ... Outside front-row starter Tyler Erb, winner of the previous two Fall Classics, led the first 35 laps from the pole. Erb was running third on the final lap when he got into the frontstretch wall while battling runner-up Ethan Dotson and never took the checkers, finishing a lap down in 11th. ... Friday semifeature winner and Saturday polesitter Garrett Alberson had a rough race. He pitted running second during a lap-15 caution, then retired after going a lap down and stroking an infield tire barrier to draw a lap-36 caution. ... Four cautions slowed the action. ... The first yellow came on the 15th lap when Dennis Erb Jr. went around in turn two while battling Austin Smith, who retired (Erb was restored to his seventh spot). ... Haiden Cowan's flat tire drew a lap-42 yellow flag. ... Fifth-running Drake Troutman, who ran as high as second, hit the turn-two wall on the 44th lap. ... Along with Alberson, Trey Mills was a $3,000 semifeature winner Friday.
On the move: Zack Mitchell of Enoree, S.C., started 15th and finished third.
