Donald McIntosh tunes up before his victory at Boyd's Speedway.
What won the race: Leading all 40 laps for $4,000 and his first career Old Man's Garage Spring Nationals victory, Donald McIntosh of Dawsonville, Ga., scored a home-state victory over fellow Georgia drivers Derek Ellis of Chatsworth and Dale McDowell of Chickamauaga at Boyd's Speedway.
Key notes: McIntosh got the jump on fellow front-row starter Ivedent Lloyd Jr., and was never seriously challenged despite traffic. ... McDowell overtook Lloyd for third on the final lap. ... Dane Dacus brought out the feature's lone caution on lap 14. ... Chris Madden of Gray Court, S.C., entered the weekend as the tour's points leader, but has elected to skip the trio of events and take the weekend off. ... Boyd's hosted the first of three Georgia events that wrap up the points racing on the third-year Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals, a tour promoted by North Carolina driver Ray Cook. ... Sister tracks Dixie and Rome Speedways host the next two races. ... Two non-points races are scheduled for later this summer at Swainsboro (Ga.) Raceway and 201 Speedway in Sitka, Ky., after rain plagued the tour schedule.
On the move: Chris Wilson of Crossville, Tenn., improved seven positions and completed the top ten.
Winner's sponsors: McIntosh's Blount Motorsports Rocket Chassis has a Vic Hill Racing Engine and sports sponsorship from Stowers (CAT) Machinery Corp., Arnold Trucking, Blount Excavating, Cherokee Millwright, Food City, GEO Services, Insurance Partners, Massey Electric, Tennessee RV, Turner Hydraulics, VP Race Fuels and Wine and Spirits Cellar.
Points chase: Through May 22, Billy Ogle Jr., of Knoxville, Tenn., has 827 and an eight-point advantage of McIntosh.
