PEVELY, Mo. (Aug. 23) — Third-starting Dennis Erb Jr. of Carpentersville, Ill., captured his first career O'Reilly MARS DIRTcar Series victory at I-55 Raceway near St. Louis. Erb, who pocketed $16,000 including a $10,000 bonus three weeks earlier in a Northern Allstars Late Model Series victory at the high-banked third-mile oval, outran former MARS champion Terry Phillips of Springfield, Mo., to earn $5,000.
Phillips started outside the front row alongside teammate and polesitter Jeremy Payne, who finished eighth. Billy Moyer of Batesville, Ark., was third followed by Brian Shirley of Chatham, Ill., and Jason Feger of Bloomington, Ill.
