Notes: The NGK NTK World of Outlaws World Finals brings together the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, the World of Outlaws Late Model Series and big-block modifieds of the Super DIRTcar Series. … The World Finals return in 2021 after last season’s season-ending event was renamed spectator-limited Last Call after coronavirus restrictions forced the cancellation of the World Finals. … Entering the 14th annual World Finals, Brandon Sheppard of New Berlin, Ill., has the series title wrapped up. … Sheppard needs only to enter the event to claim his third consecutive WoO crown and fourth all-time, tying Josh Richards. Sheppard will formally claim those honors following Saturday’s Feature. … In 26 World Finals Late Model features, there have been just nine winners. … Jimmy Owens of Newport, Tenn., has won seven of his 20 career World Finals starts, including five Saturday victories over a six-year span from ’09-‘14. … Owens has led 196 laps during World Finals Late Model features, the most of all drivers. … Chris Madden of Gray Court, S.C., is next with 163 laps led. Of Madden’s total, 159 have come since 2014. … Only one driver — Shane Clanton — has started all 26 World Finals Late Model features. Clanton has never won one, however. … With 77 career series wins, Brandon Sheppard needs just one victory to tie Josh Richards atop the list as the tour’s all-time winningest drivers. … Just three World of Outlaws regulars, Sheppard of New Berlin, Ill.; Richards of Shinnston, W.Va., and Lanigan of Union, Ky., have won a World Finals feature, although 2021 series regulars Dennis Erb Jr. and Chris Madden are each previous World Finals winners. … The first 10 World Finals Late Model features each had a different runner-up. Tim McCreadie of Watertown, N.Y., has five runner-up finishes, the most of any driver. … T-Mac plans to compete in both Late Model and big-block mods this weekend. … Kyle Larson owns Charlotte’s Late Model track record, 14.183 seconds set on Nov. 5 , 2020. … Chris Ferguson of Mount Holly, N.C., leads all North Carolina drivers with 10 World Finals starts. Ferguson’s best finish is fourth on Nov. 8, 2019 … Thursday’s program includes hot laps and two separate rounds of two-lap time trials for Late Models and sprints along with heat races for the big block mods. The first round qualifies cars for Friday and second round qualifies cars for Saturday. … Friday features a full racing program for Late Models (50-lap feature), sprints (30-lap feature) and big-block mods (40-lap feature). … Saturday is another complete show featuring a full racing program for Late Models (50-lap feature), sprints (30-lap feature) and big-block mods (40-lap feature). … Drivers are required to run Hoosier 1350 and D21 compound tires on the right front, right rear and the left rear. They may choose to run a D70 on the right rear, while the left front is open.
