NOTEBOOK: McKean County plans Fall Classic

McKean County Raceway will host the biggest event in the history of the track Sept. 28-29 with a total payout of nearly $100,000 on the Fall Classic weekend, which features two complete United Late Model Series events.
The Dave Lundgren Memorial, rained out on June 28, opens the weekend on Sept. 28 with a boosted purse of $5,000 going to the winner. The next night, the Priority Car RaceFAN 50 will pay $12,000 to the ULMS winner. Chub Frank won last year's event, which drew 59 entries. A bonus of $3,000 has been posted for any driver who can sweep the ULMS features.
Fastrak-sanctioned crate Late Models will also be in action on Sept. 28 with the $3,000-to-win Don Hardy Memorial. A $5,000 bonus has been posted for any driver that can win both ULMS events as well as the Fastrak race. — Chris Zuver
Fall Fest XIII less than a month away
Challenge Raceway's Fall Fest XIII is less than a month away as the event, formerly sanctioned by the Mid-Atlantic Championship Series, runs unsanctioned in 2007. The event is scheduled for Oct. 12-13 with the Super Late Model main event scheduled for Saturday night instead of Sunday evening.
Super Late Models will qualify and run heat races on Friday night with consolation races and the feature event set for Saturday. The 75-lap Ultimate feature pays $20,000 to the winner and at least $1,500 to every starter in the 24-car field.
Semi-Lates, featuring a combination of Limited Late Models, steel-block Late Models and crate Late Models from the region, will also be in action during the weekend with a $2,000-to-win main event.
Challenge has reduced its weekend-long general admission pass to $45 for 2007, $5 less than last year. — Rich Berry
