POCOLA, Okla. (Sept. 6) — Outside front-row starter Terry Phillips of Springfield, Mo., made a last-lap pass of teammate Jeremy Payne for a $2,000 victory at Tri-State Speedway in a 35-lapper co-sanctioned by the O'Reilly Mid-South Racing Association and Allstate Dirt LateModel Racing Association.

Phillips got the jump on polesitter Dewaine Hottinger of Russellville, Ark., and stayed in control until Payne caught him midway through the race and later took the lead. Payne was in control after a late-race restart and took the white flag, but he checked up on the final lap and slipped back to fourth. Phillips regained the point and the victory while Will Vaught of Crane, Mo., and Jesse Stovall of Galena, Mo., also got past Payne. Two cautions slowed the race.

Notes: Phillips drives a GRT Race Car with a Hatfield Racing Engine and sponsorship from Andy's Frozen Custard and Don Babb Motorsports. ... Kyle Beard of Trumann, Ark., who broke an engine in his heat race, rallied from 21st to finish fifth and earn the Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger honors. ... MSRA Rookie of the Year Jon Kirby of Russellville, Ark., received the Weld Wheels Hard Luck award after radiator problems eliminated him on the first lap. ... Joey Mack of Benton, Mo., finished 11th and holds a 21-point advantage on Jeff Floyd of Walnut Ridge, Ark., in the title chase. Floyd finished seventh. ... The series wraps up with a Sept. 12-13 event at Poinsett County Raceway in Harrisburg, Ark.
