Georgia-Florida Speedweeks

Georgia-Florida Speedweeks Almanac (Feb. 11)

February 11, 2026, 7:22 am
By Todd Turner
DirtonDirt managing editor

Wednesday's races: Ninth night of 30 originally scheduled Super Late Model events from Jan. 22-March 7.

Venue: Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla.

Race details: The third round of the Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals includes three 20-lap semifeatures for DIRTcar Super Late Models.

Weather forecast: Cloudy during day with 6 percent chance of precipitation. High around 75F. Winds WSW at 10 to 15 mph; Mainly clear skies at night with 24 percent chance of precipitation. Low 58F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Who's Hot: Cody Overton of Thomson, Ga., who, despite mechanical gremlins and a couple of scrapes with competitors, has logged a pair of runner-up finishes at Volusia to stand atop Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals points.

Who's Not: Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., is still looking for his first top-five finish after five 2026 features at Volusia.

DirtonDirt prediction: The three winners in Wednesday’s semifeatures will all earn their first victories of 2026. — Todd Turner

Around the Pits: With his Tuesday victory, Hudson O’Neal matches Brandon Overton with a season-best four Super Late Model victories in 2026. No other driver has more than one. … O’Neal’s victory was his first in his full-time SSI Motorsports ride since September’s Knoxville Nationals. … Cody Overton and Nick Hoffman are the only two drivers with heat race victories in each of the first two nights at Volusia.

Up next: Thursday’s World of Outlaws Late Model Series action for the fourth night of the DIRTcar Nationals with a $12,000-to-win purse.

Next week: The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series opens its season with Feb. 19-21 events at All-Tech Raceway in Ellisville, Fla.

This Date in Dirt Late Model History: On Feb. 11, 2000, Ray Cook of Brasstown, N.C., wins the first of three career Speedweeks victories, rallying from 21st at East Bay Raceway Park in Gibsonton, Fla., for a 100-lap STARS victory worth $10,000.

Speedweeks trivia: What driver, 20 years after his late father won his first Speedweeks race, broke through for his first Speedweeks victory in earning $12,500? (Answer in Thursday's almanac; Tuesday’s answer: Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla., was the last Speedweeks winner on the 3/8-mile dirt layout at Volusia in 1997).
