Georgia-Florida Speedweeks

Georgia-Florida Speedweeks Almanac (Feb. 14)

February 14, 2026, 7:21 am
By Todd Turner
DirtonDirt managing editor

Saturday's race: 12th of 30 originally scheduled Super Late Model events from Jan. 22-March 7.

Venue: Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla.

Race details: The $20,000-to-win World of Outlaws Late Model Series event completes the Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals.

Weather forecast: Sunny during daytime (8 percent chance of precipitation), along with a few afternoon clouds. High 77F. Winds ENE at 10 to 15 mph; Partly cloudy skies early evening will become overcast later during the night (17 chance of percent precipitation). Low 58F. Winds light and variable.

Who's Hot: Sizzling Nick Hoffman of Mooresville, N.C., whose three straight DIRTcar Nationals victory makes him the first to pull off that feat since Jimmy Owens in 2020.

Who's Not: Mike Marlar of Winfield, Tenn., who despite a couple of top-fives in Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout action in Arizona, has finished 13th or worse in nine of his last 12 starts going back to last season. He finished 27th Friday at Volusia after his involvement in the scramble before taking the green flag.

DirtonDirt prediction: Reigning WoO champ Bobby Pierce ends Nick Hoffman’s three-race winning streak in the $20,000 Volusia finale. — Todd Turner

Around the Pits: Florida drivers have rarely contended through five Volusia races with none among the top 18 in DIRTcar Nationals (St. Augustine’s Trey Mills is 18th and Kyle Bronson is 21st). … Brandon Overton is first or second in six of his last seven feature starts (of course he missed Thursday’s feature lineup). … Michael Leach, a Wednesday semifeature winner, faded badly from his pole starting spot Friday and retired after losing his car’s power steering.

Next week: The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series opens its season with Feb. 19-21 events at All-Tech Raceway in Ellisville, Fla., while WoO makes its Feb. 20-21 debut at Hendry County Motorsports Park in Clewiston, Fla.

This Date in Dirt Late Model History: On Feb. 14, 2009, Steve Francis of Ashland, Ky., overtook Brady Smith on the 36th of 50 laps to capture the DIRTcar Nationals finale with a $10,000 WoO victory.

Speedweeks trivia: Who is the only driver in history to win the last race of one year’s Speedweeks and then the first race of the following year’s Speedweeks? (Answer in Feb. 19’s almanac; Friday's answer: Mike Marlar’s 2010-winning car at East Bay hadn’t been on the track in more than a year.)
