Venue: Golden Isles Speedway near Brunswick, Ga.

Race details: A $12,000-to-win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series points event in the home stretch of the Wieland Winternationals.

Weather forecast: Areas of fog early in the day, then partly cloudy. A stray shower or thunderstorm is possible (18 percent chance of precipitation). High 84F. Winds SE at 5-10 mph; Areas of patchy fog into evening. Partly cloudy skies (21 percent chance of precipitation). Low 62F. Winds light and variable.

Who's Hot: Max Blair of Centerville, Pa., warms up with his first back-to-back top-five finishes in national touring competition since October.

Who's Not: Cody Overton of Thomson, Ga. (a sub for Skyline Motorsports on Thursday) has been better than 12th once since back-to-back podium runs Feb. 10-11 at Volusia.

Around the Pits: Jonathan Davenport won back-to-back Speedweeks events for the fifth time in his career (he did it last season, 2018-19 and '12). … Missouri youngster Dillon McCowan’s ninth-place run Thursday matched his best of the season.

This Date in Dirt Late Model History: On March 6, 1999, Freddy Smith of Knoxville, Tenn., tops the unsanctioned Mountain Dew Spring Thaw at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tenn., leading 78 of 100 laps for a $10,000 victory over Ronnie Johnson, Rick Eckert, Wendell Wallace and Ray Cook.
