ROUNDUP: Marlar earns $5,000 in Bluegrass 50

Mike Marlar, Anthony White, Skip Arp and Allen Tippen were among Southern winners of touring events during the Sept. 21-22. Marlar was the richest winner among the four with a $5,000 payday at the O'Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass event in Bardstown, Ky.
O'Reilly BoB: Marlar wins at Bluegrass as Lee wins title
BARDSTOWN, Ky. (Sept. 22) — Front-row starters Mike Marlar and Victor Lee both had big nights at the ninth annual Bluegrass 50. Marlar left with the $5,000 winner's check while Lee wrapped up the season-long championship on the O'Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series.
Marlar, of Winfield, Tenn., led all 50 laps, cruising to victory over the final laps to top runner-up Michael England, who fought off late-race challenges from 19th-starting Scott James. Bryan Barber and Justin Rattliff rounded out the top five while Jason Keltner's sixth-place finish helped him clinch rookie of the year honors on the series.
Lee, of Stanford, Ky., faded to an eighth-place finish but had plenty of cushion to secure the points title of Keltner and Tyrel Todd. — From series and track reports

O'Reilly SUPR: Tippen triumphs as Moore clinches crown
HAUGHTON, La. (Sept. 22) — Sixth-starting Allen Tippen of Minden, La., made a late-race pass of Howard Willis at Champion Park Speedway for his first victory of the season on the O'Reilly Southern United Professional Racing tour. Driving a new GRT after parking a 6-year-old model, Tippen capitalized on a restart to overtake Willis, who settled for second ahead of Kyle Cummings, Lee Davis and Jody Prince.
Season-long SUPR points leader Ray Moore finished seventh, but it was good enough to clinch his first series championship with two series events remaining. Tippen stands second in SUPR points. — From series reports

Advance Thunder: White wins at Wartburg, Arp at Cleveland
Tennessee drivers Anthony White of Clinton and Skip Arp of Georgetown were winners on the Advance Auto Parts Thunder Series Sept. 21-22. White led all the way Wartburg (Tenn.) Speedway, fighting off challenges from Ricky Arms during 50 caution-filled laps. Rick Rogers, Matt Henderson and Stacy Boles rounding out the top five in the Friday night feature. The following night at Cleveland (Tenn.) Speedway, Arp made a third-to-firt move midway through the race to overtake Steve Smith and Joe Armes. Arp was out front when Smith lost a motor 11 laps later and triggered a massive pileup that sent nearly half the field to the pits for repairs. Arp raced to his second series victory of the season in outrunning Riley Hickman, Jamie Perry, Mike Weeks and Billy Ogle Jr. — From series reports | Slideshow
