Leslie Essary leads final 7 laps for Midway victory

LEBANON, Mo. (Oct. 5-6) — Taking the lead from Jeremy Kelley with seven laps remaining, Leslie Essary of Crane, Mo., extended his points lead on the Show-Me Racin' Series with a victory at Midway Speedway. The Coca-Cola Fall Brawl victory was Essary's series-leading seventh of the season and 19th of his career.
Kelley took the lead from Rick Wallis on a lap-nine restart, but Essary tracked him down in lapped traffic on the 23rd of 30 laps. He settled for second ahead of Jim Fulp, Ken Essary and Conner Ward. Wallis ended up sixth while polesitter Kevin Patrick fell out on the 12th lap and finished 20th.
The Show-Me Racin' Series wraps up its season Oct. 20 at Tri-State Speedway's 28th annual Spooker in Pocola, Okla.

At Midway, Justin Asplin started outside the front row and led the first lap, but he spun between turns three and four early in the race. ... The event drew 27 cars with Kevin Henson, Jeremy Kelley, Kevin Patrick and Leslie Essary winning heat races. ... Jake Williams crossed the line first in the consolation race, but he was disqualified because he was using an illegal open-competition engine. Don Cloyd was elevated to the victory. ... Frank Tindle and Ken Patterson got provisional starting spots. ... Tri-State's Spooker is scheduled for Oct. 17-20, but the Late Model portion is set only for Saturday. ... Series fans can listen to Talkin’ Dirt with the Show-Me Racin Series Saturdays on KKBL-FM 95.9 at 10 a.m. or KSWM-AM 940 at noon.
