BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Oct. 12-13) — Mike Johnson proved himself at Bakersfield Speedway in 2007 with four Western Allstars victories en route to the championship on that series. He proved he didn't have any problem in unsanctioned events at the 22nd annual Budweister Nationals. | Slideshow
The Lompoc, Calif., driver swept the weekend's Late Model action, grabbing a $2,000 Friday night victory and a $3,000 Saturday night victory for one of the best weekends of his career.
Steve Drake of San Luis Obispo, Calif., finished second in both events while Rob Mayea, an Oregon driver piloting a California-based car fielded by Chris Sivesind, and A.J. Kirkpatrick of Prunedale, Calif., post top-five finishes in both events. The event wraps up 2007 Late Model racing at the third-mile oval.
