Former Dirt Track World Champion Wendell Wallace of Batesville, Ark., plans to sit in a familiar seat in 2008: behind the wheel of the GRT Race Cars house car. Wallace, who piloted the Greenbrier, Ark.-chassis manufacturer's research-and-development entry from 1997-2003, is rejoining the team led by GRT's Joe Garrison after the Garrett Racing's disbanding left Wallace without a ride.

Wallace, a three-time Show-Me 100 champion, plans to run a national schedule beginning with Florida Speedweeks at East Bay Raceway Park near Tampa, Fla., on Feb. 4-9. Preparing and maintaining his cars will be long-time crew chief Todd "Little Man" Moser.

“Having Wendell and Little Man relocate back here to Greenbrier should be a great thing for everyone involved,” Garrison said in a press release. “Since we dismantled the house car program at the end of 2003 with Wendell, we still maintained a close working relationship, but not as close as before when we were all together here in the shop. With Wendell back in the seat of the GRT house car, we can provide him with the factory support and the resources he needs to be successful, while he can provide me with direct feedback on our cars."

Wallace and Moser have lots of preparation to get ready for 2008, but the veteran driver is anxious to get his No. 88 back in action.

"It feels great to be back 'home' again with Joe, and hopefully we can have a great season together," Wallace said. "After the Durretts (of Garrett Racing) sold out earlier this off-season, I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to do this year, but Joe stepped up and wanted to get the in-house program going again. We had a great run for seven years our first time around and we are looking for the same success in 2008.”
