FRANKLIN, Pa. (May 20) – World of Outlaws Late Model Series rookie contender John Lobb made the most of an off weekend for the Outlaws tour, picking up a victory Friday night in topless Super Late Model action at Tri-City Speedway.

Lobb of Frewsburg, N.Y., moved by race-long leader Dick Barton of Ashville, N.Y., following a lap-19 restart and led the remainder of the 25-lap event to score the first victory of his career at the track that added the Super Late Model division for the 2011 season. | Slideshow

"With the next couple of weeks off with the World of Outlaws Late Model tour, we decided to come and check out Tri-City,” Lobb said in victory lane. “This was a great win for us, our team needed to get the monkey off our back and get back to victory lane. This win is going to hopefully be a springboard for the rest of our season with the Outlaws"

Barton jumped to the lead on the start of the race with Chris Hackett of Erie, Pa., following in the second position. Hackett maintained the second position during the early portions of the race, but feel out with mechanical problems on lap 13.

Warren, Pa., driver Ron Davies, another World of Outlaws rookie contender, advanced from 14th to second in the first half of the race, but his night came to an end when he got into the wall on lap 19.

Lobb took advantage of the ensuing restart to grab the lead from Barton and pulled away to the victory. David Scott of Garland, Pa., also moved by Barton to score the runner-up finish. Barton held on to finish third with Bump Hedman of Sugar Grove, Pa., and Wally Fox of Cooperstown, Pa., rounding out the top five.

Josh Holtgraver of Pittsburgh, Pa., scored the first victory of his career at Tri-City in the night’s Crate Late Model feature.
