Notebook: Two UFO events to be on Comcast

February 21, 2008, 8:29 am
From series reports

At least two events on the fledgling Unified Force Racing Championship tour will be televised for Comcast digital cable subscribers as part of a Comcast sponsorship of the UFO series.

Twin 30-lappers at Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway on May 18 and the 91-lap Ultimate on Oct. 10-11 at Challenger Raceway near Indiana, Pa., are scheduled to telecast on CN8 (Comcast channel 188) on a delayed basis. After the initial telecasts, the races will be available on demand. CN8 reaches 850,000 homes in western Pennsylvania and parts of Ohio, West Virginia and Maryland.

“Comcast is excited about this partnership with the Unified Force Race Championship Tour, which enables us to bring the energy of Super Late Model racing right to the many racing fans in our region,” said Linda Hossinger, senior vice president of Comcast’s Three Rivers Region.

The first-year UFO tour also announced the addition of a third track. The 21st annual Earl Hill Memorial on Aug. 3 at Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, W.Va., has been added to the schedule. The race pays $4,000 to the winner.

The series additionally announced that no UFO events will be added at tracks beyond a 125-mile radius of Monroeville, Pa., a point between the first two series tracks, PPMS and Challenger. According to Google Maps, Middlebourne is 121 miles from Monroeville. — From series reports
