Kinzer tops R.J. for $3,000 at Winchester
WINCHESTER, Tenn. (Sept. 3) – Polesitter Brandon Kinzer of Allen, Ky., led the entire distance of Saturday night’s unsanctioned special at Winchester Speedway, holding off Hall of Famer Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, Tenn., for a $3,000 victory at the central Tennessee quarter-mile oval.
Behind Johnson, David Brannon of nearby Elora, Tenn., finished third with Daniel Miller of Shelbyville, Tenn., fourth and Corey Posey of Petersburg, Tenn., fifth.
Notes: Kinzer’s GRT Race Car is sponsored by Kinzer Drilling Company, Will Kinzer Foundation for Autism Research and Quality Oil and Gas. ... The victory is the first of the season for Kinzer, who is running a part-time schedule in 2011. ... A clod of dirt flew into the cockpit of Florence, Ala., driver Josh Putnam’s race car, bending the front bars, breaking the front of his helmet. Putnam was disoriented for a few moments, but did not suffer any injuries.
