Knaub scores $2,500 victory at Susquehanna
NEWBERRYTOWN, Pa. (Sept. 25) – Gene Knaub of Dover, Pa., picked up $2,500 in Limited Late Model action Sunday night at Susquehanna Speedway Park when he won the Susquehanna Showdown presented by Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic for the second consecutive year.
The pole-starting Knaub grabbed the lead on the start of the 50-lapper and led the entire distance in a race that was pushed back one day due to a rainout of Friday’s preliminary action at the 4/10-mile racetrack.
After moving from fourth to second early in the race, Chris Knopp stayed within striking distance of Knaub, but could never mount a serious challenge for the top spot. Knopp settled for the runner-up finish, five car lengths behind the leader.
Bernie Beard started third and finished third, while Chaz Walls and Chase Billet finished fourth and fifth respectively. Billet earned the race’s hard charger award after starting 15th.
The pit crew of eighth-place finisher Jake Jones won the Tire Changing Contest presented by Miller’s Racing Parts.
