Red-hot Thornton wins again at Canyon
PEORIA, Ariz. (Oct. 1) – Ricky Thornton Jr. of Chandler, Ariz., continued his strong hold on the Total Seal Late Model Dirt Racing Series Saturday night with a $1,000 victory at Canyon Speedway Park. The triumph gives Thornton six Total Seal Series victories on the year and is his fourth in a row.
The sixth-starting Thornton took the point midway through the 25-lap race and captured his third late model victory in as many tries this year at Canyon Speedway. Early-race leader Bud Grossenbacher posted career-best finish with his runner-up effort, while points leader Antony Madrid advanced from 12th to third. Terry Belcher Jr. of Buckeye, Ariz., was fourth and Joey Moriarty of Pheoniz, Ariz., was fifth.
The series returns to action with a doubleheader weekend Oct. 14-15 at USA Raceway in Tucson, Ariz.
