MILTON, Fla. (April 19) — Shep Lucas of McKenzie, Ala., earned $5,000 for his victory in the first round of the unsanctioned Southern Challenge Series for Crate Late Models at Southern Raceway. Notes: The race was scheduled for Friday-Saturday, but Friday rains condensed it to a one-day event. ... The track has scheduled three more rounds of the Southern Challenge Series: May 30-31, July 11-12 and Sept. 5-6. The season-ending Southern 100 will pay $10,000 to the winner.
