Atkins collects $3,000 at NDRA Road Show opener
GASTONIA, N.C. (March 9) — Ryan Atkins of Mount Airy, N.C., led all the way Saturday at Carolina Speedway to win the Crate Late Model feature at the 13th annual Skyler Trull Memorial. Atkins earned a career-high $3,000 in the NDRA Road Show season opener.
Matt Long of Concord, N.C., who shot through a gap between fast qualifier Brett Hamm and Steve Banal to grab the second spot in the early laps, was the runner-up with Banal in third. Dennis Franklin and Ross Bailes rounded out the top five while Hamm, who collected $500 from FK Rod Ends for setting fast time, was sixth in the 30-lapper.
