FORT PAYNE, Ala. (Aug. 31) — Track champion Lucas Burns of Atalla, Ala., earned a career-high $3,000 payday Saturday at Fort Payne Motor Speedway with his flag-to-flag victory in the inaugural Labor Day 50. | Slideshow

Burns fought off challenges from Aaron Ridley of Chatsworth, Ga., and Jason Hiett of Lincoln, Ala., for the victory in the caution-plagued Super Late Model event. Kasey Hall of Rainsville, Ala., and Chris Beck of Glencoe, Ala., rounded out the top five finishers as the only other drivers on the lead lap.

Eight cautions slowed the action, including one for a four-car pileup in the track’s season-ending event.
