Austin Horton collected $2,500 for his Crate Racin’ USA tour victory.
What won the race: Third-starting Austin Horton won Saturday's weather-delayed Crate Racin' USA main event at Talladega Short Track. Horton took the checkers ahead of an eighth-starting Jake Knowles for a $2,500 victory while pole-starting Christian Hanger, who led laps 1-44, finished third.
Key notes: Rain, hail and a tree falling in the parking lot that struck six vehicles (including race rigs) delayed Saturday night's action, which was the second of a doubleheader weekend at TST for the Crate Late Model tour. ... Matt Henderson of Loudon, Tenn., won Friday's $2,000 opener. … Horton finished fifth on Friday. ... The series was on the weekend card with the United Sprint Car Series. … This was the traditional NASCAR weekend at TST as the Cup Series is just down the road Sunday for the Geico 500. … CRUSA returns to Talladega on July 3 and Oct. 1-2.
On the move: Runner-up Jake Knowles of Rome, Ga., started eighth.
Winner's sponsors: Horton’s Rocket Chassis is sponsored by Super K Express, Orr’s Towing, Vapes Gone Wild, GW Performance, Gary’s Pulp & Logging, Franklin Enterprises, Allstar Graphix and McKoon’s.
