Joseph Joiner picked up a $3,700 CRUSA win Friday at TST.
What won the race: Second-starting Joseph Joiner of Milton, Fla., led all 37 laps from the outside front row on Friday, topping the Crate Racin' USA Series field and winning the $3,700 opening night of the Red Farmer Tribute at Talladega Short Track.
Key notes: Polesitter Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, Tenn., ran in the runner-up position the entire race and finished 1.267 seconds back. ... Cory Hedgecock of Loudon, Tenn., finished third. ... Series winner at Talladega earlier this year, Jimmy Thomas of Phenix City, Ala., finished fifth. ... There was very little passing at Talladega Short Track on Friday, as the top-six finishers all held their positions for the entire 37-lap race. ... Four-time CRUSA feature winner and national series points leader Jason Welshan of Maryville, Tenn., advanced four positions and finished seventh. ... Friday's feature, the opening event honoring NASCAR Hall of Fame driver Red Farmer of Hueytown, Ala., who regularly competes in the track’s Crate Late Model division, was slowed by only one caution and lasted 11 minutes, with 17 drivers completing all 37 laps. … The Crate Racin' USA series concludes their weekend doubleheader with another complete $6,000-to-win show at Talladega on Saturday.
