Cole Searing celebrates his dominating Granite City victory.
What won the race: Two-time and reigning series champion Cole Searing of Huron, S.D., commanded all 40 laps Sunday at Granite City Motor Park for his first Structural Buildings WISSOTA Challenge Series victory of the season. Starting outside the front row, Searing earned $3,000 in taking the checkers 6.171 seconds ahead of fourth-starting Shane Sabraski in the nonstop 40-lapper.
Quotable: "That was good, man," Searing said. "We've been fighting a few different issues and last night with the help of (MB Customs chassis builders) Jimmy and Chris (Mars) at Viking (Speedway) there, I think we made good headway and made more headway today. and we're back to what we need to be on."
Key notes: Cole Searing cleared a thick pack of midrace traffic to keep a threatening Shane Sabraski behind him, building a lead of more than seven seconds by the 30th lap. ...
