What won the race: Repelling track-dominating Cory Hedgecock, polesitter Garrett Smith of Madison, Ga., led flag-to-flag Thursday at I-75 Raceway for a $5,000 payday on the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series. Smith, whose lead was cut to nearly nothing with six laps remaining, took the checkers 0.553 of a second ahead of the sixth-starting Hedgecock for his second career victory on Dirt Late Model racing's longest-running series.
Key notes: Garrett Smith's previous Southern All Stars victory came in the Feb. 2, 2024, season opener at Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Ga. ... Cory Hedgecock, winner of Feb.'s SAS season opener at I-75, cut Smith's lead to just a tenth of a second with six laps to go before Smith pulled away. ...
