Kyle Beard celebrates his first Comp Cams win in more than two years.
What won the race: Outdueling B.J. Robinson on a lap-nine restart after early leader Scott Crigler retired, third-starting Kyle Beard of Trumann, Ark., led the final 21 laps en route to winning Friday's $5,000 Cow Patty 30 at Old No. 1 Speedway. Beard beat Billy Moyer to the checkers by 0.662 of a second for his first Comp Cams Super Dirt Series victory in more than two years and his third feature triumph this season at Old No. 1.
Key notes: Beard notched his 26th career Comp Cams Series victory, his last was May 6, 2023, the $12,000 Bad Boy 98 finale at Batesville Motor Speedway in Locust Grove, Ark. ... His two earlier Old No. 1 Speedway victories came March 1 and April 19 in local unsanctioned Limited Late Model action. ... Scott Crigler retired after leading the opening eight laps from the pole, briefly giving control to B.J. Robinson, who led lap nine before settling for fourth; Crigler was credited with 22nd. ... Points leader Billy Moyer grabbed second from Robinson on lap 12, but couldn't mount a serious challenge on Beard's advantage. Moyer, the Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer, has said he doesn't plan on chasing the full-season title. ... Chandler Petty improved 10 spots to complete the podium finishers. ... Terry Phillips, fresh off a $10,000 victory last weekend at Enid (Okla.) Speedway, gained four spots to finish seventh. ... Second-starting Timothy Culp could only recover to 11th after pitting under a lap-four caution. ... J.C. Waller and Charlie Cole were eliminated in the lap-four incident. ... Friday's Cow Patty, a reschedule of June 7's rainout, lasted 22 minutes, with 14 starters completing 30 laps.
