What won the race: Leading all 40 laps of the Wayne Gray Memorial, first-year series driver Donovan Jackson of Hope Mills, N.C., captured his first Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series victory Saturday at Fayetteville Motor Speedway. Jackson earned $5,000 in taking the checkers 1.084 seconds ahead of fellow front-row starter Willie Milliken.
Key notes: Tour rookie Donovan Jackson's previous best Super Late Model finish was fourth in Aug. 2's Carolina Clash event at County Line Raceway in Elm City, N.C. ... Cautions on lap 15 and lap 25 slowed the action. ... Among race retirees were Brad Basey (lap 15), Chandler Fowler (lap 13) and Roger Lucas (lap 12). ... The Wayne Gray Memorial is among the final Carolina Clash events at the track that's closing at season's end after the property was sold by the Broadwell Land Company. ... Promoters David Mitchell and Shay Martin announced the track's expected closure a month ago. ... The night's action was originally scheduled to be a Vision Wheel Steel Block Bandits event, but that tour ended its season prematurely.
On the move: Dalton Peavy of Mooresburg, N.C., started 10th and finished sixth.
Winner's sponsors: Jackson's Blue Collar Motorsports Longhorn Chassis is sponsored by CT Equipment Transport, A-1 Landscaping & Lot Cleaning, Cuppa Yo Frozen Yogurt, Daytona1, WP Racing Shocks and Sanford Contractors.
