Rain hit before Thursday's scheduled 45-lap feature.
What won the race: Surviving rugged track conditions to grab the lead with six laps remaining, Josh Rice of Crittenden, Ky., won Friday at Lucas Oil Speedway for a $10,000 victory in a makeup Show-Me 100 prelim. Rice's first Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series victory of the season came by 2.419 seconds ahead of Garrett Alberson, who led laps 33-39, while Chris Ferguson, who rallied from 14th to lead laps 8-32, was third.
Quotable: "I'm speechless, honestly, because I did not think I was going to show up here and be good," said Rice, who debuted at the track Thursday. "I don't know what to do for this 100-lapper because my car was horrible on hard tires. I would say we're locked in (Saturday's finale) anyway."
Key notes: Josh Rice's third Lucas Oil victory is his first away from his home track, Florence Speedway in Union, Ky. ... Rice's victory came just after crew member Zach Frields joined the team. ... Runner-up Garrett Alberson rebounded from his violent, flipping wreck in the night's earlier action to bid for the victory. ... Polesitter Brandon Overton led the first seven laps and finished fifth. ... Five cautions slowed the action on a surface that had more moisture than the earlier feature, the first on the fourth lap for debris. ... Sixth-running Jonathan Davenport's blowout drew a lap-12 caution; Davenport won the night's earlier 40-lap feature. ... On the 23rd lap, Bobby Pierce slowed with a flat left-rear tire. ... Tony Jackson Jr. slowed for a lap-26 caution. ... On the 31st lap, Clay Stuckey slowed with right-rear suspension issues. ... Ricky Thornton Jr. switched cars from the night's earlier prelim he ran as high as fourth but nosepiece issues dropped him from contention. ... Clay Harris survived a near-rollover in turn two on the third lap. ... Thursday's 34-minute makeup feature concluded at 11:17 p.m. ... The opening night feature was postponed by rain that hit after Thursday's consolation races. ... The Cowboy Classic paid tribute to former Midwest LateModel Racing Association co-owner Allen "Cowboy" Chancellor.
On the move: Tail-starting Dillon McCowan of Urbana, Mo., finished seventh; Chris Ferguson of Mount Holly, N.C., started 14th and finished third.
Winner's sponsors: Rice's JRR Motorsports Longhorn Chassis is powered by a Vic Hill Racing Engine and sponsored by Grant Lee Farms, MGL Auto Sales, Keltner Contracting, JRR Trcuking, JRR Motors Sales, ICS, The Auto Outlet, New Point Lighting & Design, B&L Construction & Septic Service and Antonio's Pizza Pub
