Rusty Schlenk (91) goes by Rich Neiser (87) en route to victory.
What won the race: Fourth-starting Rusty Schlenk of Weston, Ohio, went by Traverse City, Mich., native Brandon Thirlby on the 21st lap at Winston Speedway to capture the Allstar Performance 50. Chris Keller dropped Thirlby to third after a lap-29 restart, but Thirlby regained the position to finish second.
Key notes: Schlenk, a two-time series champion (2006, ’08), posted his 17th career ALMS victory and first since May 24, 2013, in Mount Pleasant, Mich. … Cautions slowed the eighth annual event on laps 12, 28, 29 and 41. … Polesitter Rich Neiser led the first three laps but slipped as far back as eighth before finishing seventh. ... Chris Keller took second briefly from Brandon Thirlby but ended up fourth after losing a spot to Ryan VanderVeen in the final laps. ... Thirlby led laps 4-20.
On the move: Fifth-place finisher Dona Marcoullier advanced eight positions; Tom Sprague Jr. came from his 17th starting spot to finish eighth.
