Ronnie Johnson gets rolling at 411, where he collected $4,000.
What won the race: Taking the lead from race-long pacesetter Jimmy Elliott of Cleveland, Tenn., with an outside move on the 23rd lap, Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, Tenn., went on to score a $4,000 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series victory. Johnson controlled the final 18 laps of the caution-plagued 40-lapper, winning by 5.091 seconds and completing his weekend sweep of the tour's action.
Quotable: “It meant a lot to me to win my first J.T. Kerr Memorial Trophy last year, and it means just as much to win it again,” Johnson said. “I want to dedicate this win to the Kerr Family because they are carrying on the racing tradition that J.T. started so many years ago and they have done a lot for the sport.”
Key notes: Johnson was lifted to a $2,000 victory Friday at Tri-County Racetrack in Brasstown, N.C., when apparent winner Jason Welshan of Maryville, Tenn., was disqualified for a chemically-altered tire. ... The race's initial start was slowed by a chain-reaction caution that involved Walker Arthur, Michael Blount, Jake Teague, Todd Morrow and Adam Beeler. ... Another multi-car pileup occured on the the ninth lap, this time involving Arthur, Morrow and Johnny Stokes. ... Blount, Rusty Ballenger, Warren McMahan and Chris Noah got together on the 12th circuit. ... Jensen Ford spun to draw a lap-14 caution. ... Blount brought out two more cautions on laps 20 and 27. ... Tanner Works and Greg Martin got hooked together battling for fourth on the lap-27 restart, drawing a red flag. ... The feature took roughly 46 minutes to complete. ... The top 10 qualifiers were locked in the main event; remaining drivers ran consolation races to secure feature starting spots. ... 411 hosted the series for the third and final time in 2014. ... Terry Poore won Saturday's Limited Late Model feature.
On the move: Despite his tangle, Noah ended up sixth in the final rundown after starting 22nd.
