Chad Olsen visits victory lane at Fiesta City Speedway.
What won the race: Chad Olsen of Hendricks, Minn., repelled challenges from eighth-starting Chad Becker in Saturday’s Tri-State Late Model Series finale at Fiesta City Speedway to capture his first career victory on the tour. Finishing ahead of Becker and Gary Brown Jr., Olsen pocketed $1,500.
Key notes: The Tri-State Late Model Series visited Fiesta City Speedway for what was supposed to be a Friday-Saturday doubleheader at the Montevideo, Minn., oval, but Friday’s program, which drew 27 entries, was rained out. … The third-year tour made it first-ever trip to Fiesta City. … Olsen became the seventh winner in nine series events this season; four events remain on the tour's 2019 schedule. … Scott Ward of Watertown, S.D., had a hard crash in his heat race when he slammed driver's side first into the wall exiting turn one; he was checked out at a hospital and released with a concussion and considerable soreness. Doctors recommended he not race for a few weeks, according to the team.
On the move: Chad Becker of Aberdeen, S.D., started eighth and finished second.
Winner's sponsors: Olsen's MB Customs car carries sponsorship from Olsen Custom Farms, Hendricks Farmers Lumber Co., NB Golf Cars and Pioneer Brand Seeds.
Points chase: Entering the event, Nate Beyenhof of Rock Rapids, Iowa, led Gary Brown Jr., Jordan Heiman, Brad Vogt and Scott Borkowski.
Current weather: Cloudy, 66°F
Car count: 30
Polesitter: Marshall Fegers
