What won the race: Polesitter John Eller of Oxford, N.C., dominated Saturday night’s Blue Ridge Outlaw Late Model Series sanctioned-Phillip Knight Memorial at Lancaster Speedway. Taking the checkers 5.273 seconds ahead of Mark Dysart, Eller earned $1,200.
Quotable: “The guys just busted their tail and it showed tonight,” said Eller. “We unloaded the car and it was fast and we was able to put down a good lap. … We are finally, finally a winner. People close to us know how hard we’ve worked for it. With the starts tonight, that was the longest race I think I’ve ever run. That was the most starts. I think we tried to go green like four times. Me and Bryson Harper just couldn’t get it together there at the beginning. I’d see him flinch and he’d see me flinch. We was antsy.”
Key notes: The Blue Ridge Outlaws visited Lancaster for the second time this season. … The race was originally set for June 22 but rained out. … Matthew Nance of Rhonda, N.C., won the tour’s March 23 visit to Lancaster. … Nance has a series-high seven victories this season. … The last five series races have produced five different winners. … Bonuses of $300, $200 and $100 go to the top three drivers using a Crate engine.
Winner's sponsors: Eller’s MasterSbilt Race Car is sponsored by 4 Boyz Racing Supply and NC Industrial Equipment.
