What won the race: Eighth-starting David Scott of Garland, Pa., edged ahead of Chub Frank with two laps remaining in Saturday night’s 30-lap Zimmer United Late Model Series event at Genesee Speedway to capture his 11th career victory on the tour. He earned $3,000 after beating Frank to the finish line by 0.947 of a second.

Quotable: “We broke an axle qualifying on the first lap, which that was a real butter to get out. It was blowed up inside the tube and we almost didn’t get it out,” said Scott. “Thanks to some other pit guys … (Jason) Dobson actually is the one that had the pipe that got us so we could even get the axle out. So we gotta thank him for being able to be where we’re at. If it wasn’t for his piece of pipe we’d probably still be there trying to work on it.”

Key notes: Scott had to make quick work to his car's damaged rearend just to make the main event. ... He broke into the top five on lap 15, reached third on lap 24 and took second on lap 27 before making his winning move to overtake Frank at the two-to-go signal. ... Frank settled for runner-up money after leading the race's first 27 circuits off the outside pole. ... ULMS points leader Max Blair finished third, hot on Frank's heels at the checkered flag. ... Scott's second ULMS triumph of 2019 came in the first of two Saturday-night features at the western New York oval. The other 30-lapper, run later in the program, was a feature held over by rain on July 4. ... Scott's other ULMS victory this season also came in New York, on May 24 at Delevan's Freedom Motorsports Park. ... Fast-timer and polesitter Boom Briggs, racing on an off weekend from his World of Outlaws travels, started on the pole but slipped to a fourth-place finish.
