What won the race: Polesitter and series points leader Justin Kay of Wheatland, Iowa, led flag-to-flag in a caution-free event for a $3,000 IMCA Deery Brothers Summer Series victory, his fourth on the 2014 season.
Quotable: "Seat time is what’s helping us this year," Kay told The Gazette after his victory. "Sitting in the car three, four times a week is huge. It’s getting that many more laps than everyone else to work on things."
Key notes: The victory is Kay's 26th overall of 2014, among the nation's leaders in feature victories. ... Kay has seven career Deery Brothers victories. ... Scott Fitzpatrick won the $250 Sunoco Race Fuels drawing. ... The event was a makeup of a June 10 rainout. ... The IMCA tour made its sixth appearance in Tipton. ... Only five series races remain.
On the move: Denny Eckrich of Tiffin, Iowa, started 12th and improved three positions.
Winner's sponsors: Kay drives a Barry Wright Race Car with sponsorship from Heinee Jo's, Jr's Place, Kay Farms & Elevator, Kay & Sons Trucking, Petersen Insurance and Wheatland Ag Center.
Points chase: Entering Tuesday's event, Justin Kay had 429 points to lead Andy Eckrich (410) and Jeff Aikey (389).
