What won the race: Outside front-row starter Justin Zeitner of Malvern, Iowa, held off Jason Rauen in Friday night’s Yankee Dirt Classic opener at 300 Raceway to pocket $3,000. Finishing 1.132 seconds ahead of Rauen, Zeitner recorded his fifth career Malvern Bank Series victory.
Key notes: Friday's program was the first leg of a weekend doubleheader for the Hoker Trucking Series and Malvern Bank Series sister tours at 300 Raceway as part of the 43rd annual Yankee Dirt Track Classic. Saturday's finale pays $10,000 to the winner. … Series points leader Tad Pospisil of Norfolk, Neb., started fourth but ran into trouble and ended up 15th. He entered the weekend with four wins in 11 races on the Malvern Bank tour this season and three wins in nine races on the Hoker Trucking Series. … One of Pospisil’s victories was a co-sanctioned event. … Saturday’s race will be the richest of the season on either series. … Justin Kay of Wheatland, Iowa, won last year’s Yankee Dirt Track Classic.
