What won the race: Bolting from fifth to the lead on a mid-race restart, Hayden Cardwell of Knoxville, Tenn., paced the final 20 circuits of Saturday's 50-lap American Crate All-Star Series presented by PPM feature at I-75 Speedway. He beat Cory Hedgecock by 1.760 seconds for the $5,000 winner's prize.
Key notes: Cardwell claimed his first American Crate All-Star Series triumph of 2022 as the second-year driver chases the tour's championship and Rookie of the Year honors. ... Hedgecock, who earned $2,500 for his win in Friday's weekend opener, settled for second after leading the first 29 laps of Saturday's headliner. ... Ninth-starting Cameron Weaver finished third. ... After earning fast qualifier honors, Ray Cook placed sixth in his first series start. ... Bradley Lewelling raced as high as third before retiring with problems on lap 42. ... Polesitter Mack McCarter completed 34 laps and finished 18th. ... After running inside the top five for more than half the race, Dillon Brown experienced problems on lap 30 and finished 19th. ... Saturday's feature, part of a season-opening doubleheader for the American Crate All-Star Series at I-75, was slowed by three incidents and lasted over 36 minutes. Ten competitors completed the entire distance.
