What won the race: Outside front-row starter Tony Jackson Jr. of Lebanon, Mo., outdueled Will Vaught in traffic, then held off Dustin Mooneyham of Aurora, Mo., for a $2,000 victory in Springfield Raceway's unsanctioned Turkey Bowl VIII. Jackson earned his first-ever Springfield victory.

Quotable: "Will was good there ... I just had to race him clean. We had that problem over there at Wheatland, so I just had to race him clean," Jackson said. "He got bottled up there in lapped traffic and opened the door for us."

Key notes: Jackson, the MARS champion, has seven victories on the 2014 season. His previous win came in MARS action at Salina Highbanks Speedway on Sept. 27. ... Polesitter Brandon McCormick spun on the first attempted start. ... Will Vaught, driving a Rocket Chassis after fielding a Warrior Race Car in recent seasons, inherited the pole after that and led from the outset, losing the point amid traffic when he went high. ... Rookie Shannon Scott of Henryetta, Okla., was fourth in his Springfield debut; he was running third but had a flat tire on the last lap. ... Last year's Turkey Bowl winner Jesse Stovall of Galena, Mo., was among early retirees. ... Scott Crigler of Alton, Mo., was the winner of the modified event. ... The Turkey Bowl closed the track's 2014 season.

On the move: Dustin Mooneyham charged from the 11th starting spot to finish second. Jeff Roth of Benton, Mo., rallied from the 10th starting position to finish third.
