Donald McIntosh powers out of the corners at North Georgia.
What won the race: Fourth-starting Donald McIntosh of Dawsonville, Ga., outdueled fifth-starting William Thomas of Phenix City, Ala., in the final laps of Saturday's Ultimate Super Late Model Series season-opener at North Georgia Speedway to earn his first career series victory. He collected $4,000.
Key notes: McIntosh has two victories on the 2015 season. He previously scored a $4,000 victory in 411 Motor Speedway's Hangover 40 on Jan. 1. ... The 40-lap feature included six official lead changes among five different drivers. ... Polesitter Dennis Franklin, the 2014 Ultimate series champion, led the first half of the race before retiring with mechanical issues. ... The race was slowed by seven cautions. ... Ray Cook drew a caution on the fourth lap when he slowed on the frontstretch. ... Another yellow flew on lap eight for a multi-car pileup in turn two. ... Vic Hill and Aaron Ridley drew a caution when they tangled on lap 11. ... A yellow flag flew for Doug Sanders on lap 17. ... George Mashburn drew a caution on lap 19. ...
