Tyler Stevens and his team in victory lane at Batesville.
What won the race: Taking advantage of leader Scott Crigler's flat left-rear tire, pole-starting Tyler Stevens of Searcy, Ark., regained the lead on lap 23 of Friday's 30-lap feature at Batesville Motor Speedway to become the first two-time winner of the season on the Comp Cams Super Dirt Series. Stevens, who led the first 14 circuits before getting too high exiting turn four and allowing Crigler to sneak past, earned $5,000 for his sixth career tour victory after taking the checkers 1.159 seconds ahead of eighth-starting Stormy Scott.
Quotable: "I just hit my marks, and I knew if I hit my marks and did my job in the seat things would turn out well," Stevens said. "This thing, all night from the get-go, was really, really good. I've had a lot of help this week and getting back on track. Hopefully this will be another good week."
Key notes: Stevens's previous series victory this season came April 5 at Poplar Bluff (Mo.) Motorsports Park. ... Crigler's flat left-rear tire might have been the result of slight contact with Stevens exiting turn two just a half-lap after Crigler grabbed the lead. Crigler, looking for his second career tour victory after a 2023 triumph at Batesville, slightly bobbled but kept control, then slowed several laps later with deflating rubber to draw the second caution. ... The first caution flew on the second lap for a Spencer Hughes spin that collected Shane Hebert and Curtis Cook. ... The third caution, on lap 24, quickly turned into a red-flag stoppage after points leader Logan Martin and Trey Mills collided exiting turn tour, sending Martin's car into the inside wall near the start-finish line. ... Clay Stuckey's car was also towed off the track during the red flag. ... On the lap-24 restart, a yellow and then red flag appeared when Billy Moyer and Ashton Winger got together exiting turn two while battling for third, sending Winger into the backstretch wall; his damaged car spun into the turn-three entrance, collecting Jamie Elam. After quickly climbing from his car and sending his helmet rolling onto the track surface, Winger jogged down the backstretch to Moyer's car that sat in turn two and calmly expressed displeasure with the Hall of Famer. ... The Bad Boy 98 concludes Saturday with a 68-lap, $12,000-to-win finale.
On the move: In his Batesville debut, Payton Freeman of Commerce, Ga., started 10th and finished third.
