What won the race: Moving past heavy-hitters Jimmy Mars and Brian Birkhofer on the 10th lap, fourth-starting Jason Feger of Bloomington, Ill., raced to his second victory in as many years on Davenport's half-mile layout.
Quotable: “This place is pretty cool. I’ve been here twice and won twice. I really like it. But man, it was a tough field of cars tonight, and with the passing points you never know what can happen. It worked out tonight pretty good. We had to pass Birky and Mars and Stovall, and them guys are tough, especially on a big track.”
Key notes: Feger is 2-for-2 in trips to Davenport. ... Home-state racer Ryan Gustin crossed the line fourth, but he was 18 pounds light at the scales and disqualified. ... Feger has three Corn Belt Clash victories, the first last May 17 at Davenport. ... He has six career MARS victories. ... Jimmy Mars earned the pole for the feature by virtue of his dash victory with Jesse Stovall alongside; Brian Birkhofer started third with Jason Feger, A.J. Diemel and Brad Looney filling out the first three rows. ... The race was co-sanctioned by the MARS DIRTcar Series, which competed at Davenport for the first time. ... The tours join the Sunoco American Late Model Series West on Saturday for the $10,555-to-win Slocum 50 at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa.
On the move: Chad Simpson came from his 10th starting spot to finish fourth; Will Vaught gained 14 positions in finishing sixth.
