What won the race: Inheriting the lead on the 19th lap when race-dominating Cade Dillard blew a tire, Morgan Bagley of Longview, Texas, led the rest of Friday's 30-lap Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series stop at Sabine Raceway. The pole-starting Dillard, looking for a victory at his home track, was cruising when his left-rear tire exploded, causing left-rear damage to his No. 97 machine. He returned to finish seventh.
Quotable: (Dillard is) the one to beat ... we got lucky, but like you said, you gotta be there," Bagley said. "He's one of the best in the country if you ask me, so just to kind of be behind him and be there I mean says something that we're headed the right direction."
Key notes: Morgan Bagley, who rarely runs on the Mississippi-based tour, grabbed his first career MSCCS victory in taking the checkers 1.236 seconds ahead of eighth-starting Jon Mitchell. ... Bagley won his first race since Sept. 1, 2024, in Comp Cams Super Dirt Series competition at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Miss. ... Bagley's victory lane celebration at Sabine was briefly delayed while officials checked his car's deck height (he was legal). ... Race-dominating Cade Dillard had more than a four-second lead early and was ahead by two seconds when he pitted. ... Dillard's blowout marked the second of two cautions; the first appeared on the eighth lap for Colbey Richman's spin. ... A crew member left a cup on Dillard's decking when he returned to the track after his pit stop; someone removed it before the race went green. ... Eleven drivers completed 30 laps. ... The feature started at 10:45 p.m. and ended at 11. ... Dean Carpenter scratched from the feature. ... The event marked the track's biggest Late Model event since a 2015 race on the former Southern United Professional Racing tour.
On the move: Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, Miss., started 20th and finished eighth.
