HAUBSTADT, Ind. — Updates from Saturday’s 21st round of the DIRTcar Summer Nationals at Tri-State Speedway, an event highlighted by a 40-lap, $10,000-to-win co-sanctioned feature for DIRTcar and Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series Late Models (results unofficial):
Feature
Leading all 40 laps, Shannon Babb Moweaqua, Ill., regained the mantle as the tour's all-time winningest driver Saturday at Tri-State Speedway for a $10,000 DIRTcar Summer Nationals victory. Babb's 102nd Hell Tour victory — his seventh at Tri-State on the circuit — came 1.306 seconds ahead of Mark Whitener, who made a late bid for the lead on the final restart. Babb's victory put him back ahead of Hall of Famer Billy Moyer, who last month tied Babb with his 10st victory in the tour's opener in Brownstown, Ill.

Heat race recap
Rodney Melvin overcame an early-race restart to lead all eight laps in winning the first heat race by 0.561 of a second over fourth-starting Brenden Smith. Fifth-starting Rob Anderzack finished third, with seventh-starting Jadon Frame grabbing the fourth and final transfer spot into Saturday’s 40-lap feature. The race’s lone caution flew on the third lap when Seth Daniels became pinched between Frame and Rod Conley, the resulting contact sending Daniels spinning in turn three; all drivers continued with Daniels rebounding to finish fifth. … Hall of Famer Billy Moyer got the jump on Haiden Cowan and cruised to win the second heat by 1.991 seconds over Cowan, who reclaimed second from Tyler Millwood on the third lap, relegating Millwood to third. Seventh-starting Dillon McCowan grabbed the fourth and final transfer position into the $10,000-to-win co-sanctioned main event. … Colten Burdette took command from Tyler Erb on a lap-two restart and paced the final seven circuits to win the third heat by 1.901 seconds over Erb, who led the opening lap. Sixth-starting Rusty Schlenk finished third, with Tyler Neal hanging on for fourth. The race’s lone caution came on the second lap when Cody Mahoney had trouble and retired. … Second-starting Shannon Babb earned a flag-to-flag victory in the fourth and final heat race, winning by 0.705 of a second over pole-starting Mark Whitener. Kyle Hammer overcame an opening lap melee to finish third, with Jason Feger completing the top-four finishers. The race’s lone stoppage came on the opening lap when Hammer, Brody Smith and Cam Harris tangled in turn two; Harris and Smith also continued, finishing eighth and ninth, respectively.
