Gregg Satterlee wins Georgetown's Mid-Atlantic Championship.
What won the race: Fourth-starting Gregg Satterlee of Indiana, Pa., slipped by Mason Zeigler on the 30th lap and drove away to win Friday's 40-lap Bernheisel Racing Components Fall Clash-sanctioned Mid-Atlantic Championship at Georgetown Speedway. Satterlee earned $8,000 for his inaugural Fall Clash victory, beating Zeigler to the checkers by 2.682 seconds.
Quotable: "We got a really good team (with) my crew chief Robby (Allen). We didn’t start off the night the greatest, with the dash we were a little bit off," Satterlee said. "We made some good changes, thanks to him, I kinda just let him do his thing and the car came to life after a couple laps in the feature.”
Key notes: Satterlee's $8,000 triumph is his richest of 12 feature victories this season. ... Mason Zeigler of Chalk Hill, Pa., extended his Fall Clash points advantage with a runner-up finish and leads Trever Feathers by 84 markers entering Saturday's season finale at Potomac Speedway in Budds Creek, Md. ... Zeigler paced laps 6-29 before relinquishing the top spot to Satterlee after battling side-by-side for two circuits; light contact entering turn one amongst lapped traffic gave Satterlee control the rest of the way. ... Pole-starting Demetrios Drellos rounded out the podium in third. The New Yorker, who who has run Crate Late Models extensively in recent years but has roughly a half-dozen Super Late Model starts on his ledger, was the night's fast qualifier and earned a dash victory, worth $300 courtesy of Bob Hubert Sportswear and Kirkey Racing Fabrication. ... Feathers, of Winchester, Va., led the opening five circuits before fading to finish fifth. ... New Jersey big-block modified standout Billy Pauch Jr. finished 14th in his Late Model debut aboard a Denny Superko-owned Bernheisel Racing Lazer Chassis. ... The 40-lapper ran caution-free and lasted 13 minutes with 11 starters completing the distance.
On the move: Hometown driver Ross Robinson started 10th and finished fourth.
Winner's sponsors: Satterlee’s Rocket Chassis is powered by a Clements Racing Engine and sponsored by Keyser Manufacturing, Classic Ink, Integra Shocks, Simpson Race Products, Wiles Racing Driveshafts, Bulldog Rear Ends, Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic, LazFab Pit Sockets, Hooker Harness, All About Wraps, VP Racing Fuels, AFCO and Keizer Aluminum Wheels.
